 skittles & tunnel vision
« Thread Started on Jun 21, 2008, 8:09pm »

The world was upside down, or maybe it was right side up. All the blood was currently rushing to his head and his eyesight was getting fuzzy as his heart beat grew fiercer from the recesses off his mind. Whoa, it was insane. The sides of his vision blackened into nothing; tunnel vision. With the metal bars warming beneath his pallid flesh, Ebony was a twenty-something-year-old male hanging upside down on monkey bars until he felt every breath hurt his lungs and until he felt a migraine coming on. In his right hand was a bright pack of Skittles that caught the sunlight and glinted off in a rainbow of colors. His tongue was stained with the fruity candy and his lips were sticky from the sugary mixture of sweetness that was packaged and processed for the consumption of sugar addicts just like the skinny male who was near passing out.

He was an odd one, that Ebony, with his blue-black hair catching the sunlight only to enhance the blue tones glimmering away. His wide eyes were unfocused in all their sea green glory as his left hand stretched over his forehead to rattle the bag and pull out the brightly colored Skittles to pop in his mouth. It was kind of fun eating upside down, though he was probably going to choke and die. Hey, at least he would die happily, right? Clad in a navy button down shirt that rose up to reveal a slash of glimmering pale skin, Ebony was probably a rather attractive male if one was into the whole indie and excessively scrawny type.

Chewing the Skittles thoughtfully and laughing slightly, Eb swung up to grasp the bars with both his hands. He almost passed out as the blood rushed away from his brain and went wherever the blood goes after that. Staring and blinking like a confused foreigner in a new country, the lightheadedness eventually passed like it had never even been. Weird, but oh so cool! Who needed drugs when one could get high hanging upside down on monkey bars and eating Skittles? Thinking of that, Eb popped more of the chewy delights in his mouth and tasted the fruity flavors slide delightfully over his tongue. The red ones were his favorite. Now his tongue was probably a mixture of some dark color from all the dyes in the candy.

Stretching up his long legs so they dangled between the spaces of the monkey bars, Ebony looked around quietly with his layered dark hair in his pale, delicate face. He was a frightfully frail looking boy with effeminate features, full lips, and wide innocent eyes. Currently toying with the bag of Skittles and realizing he was utterly alone on the playground, Ebony hummed softly to himself and stretched his long body over the curving structure of the monkey bars. Alright, not the most comfortable position ever, but it was something. Staring at the blue sky and continuing to pop Skittles on at a time in his already sugar coated mouth, Ebony hummed a random melody and enjoyed acting like a little kid for now, despite the fact he was a counselor at a summer camp.

Odd much? It was a wonder he hadn't been hauled away for being a nutjob or for thoughts of being a child molestor. Eb was no psychotic Micheal Jackson, bitches.

Nothing but sheer boredom had driven Eric away from the camp. Which had to of been the weirdest thing ever, seeing as there was actually plenty for him to do around the camp, he just didn't feel like doing them. Okay, so maybe it was laziness that had driven him from the camp? Or it was, in fact, the jeep that he had borrowed from the camp to drive into the town... but to cut things short, he was in the town and bored. His first stop had been the coffee shop for some nice iced coffee on a pretty warm day such as this. Well, it wasn't so much of coffee as it were mocha, but either way it was cold with lots of caffeine. After he got the coffee, he decided to head to the park. To round up stray campers if there were any... that's how he was putting it anyway.

He pulled the jeep into the small parking lot. He sat in the jeep, bringing his cup up to take a drink from the straw as he looked around the playground area of the park. There wasn't anyone there. Well, there was one person, sitting on top of the jungle gym. From the distance he was at, he wasn't sure who it was. So, he decided to investigate. Who knew, maybe he already knew them.

Eric climbed out of the jeep, sipping on his drink as he slowly ambled his way toward the playground. As he got closer he noticed that the other male was none other then the skinny pale counselor, Ebony. Eric had never really had much of a chance to talk with Ebony. There were the couple times during the counselor training they were able to talk, but never very privately. Ebony seemed like an... interesting person.

Once he made it to the edge of the mulch covered area the monkey bars and stopped. He pulled off his sun glasses and looked up at Ebony at the top of the bars. "Having fun?" he asked before taking another drink of his coffee. He stepped onto the wooden chips, listening to the quietly crunch beneath beneath his feet as he walked toward the monkey bars. He folded his glasses and hung it on his pale blue t-shirt. His gaze lazily wandered over Ebony, before vaguely gazing over the rest of the playground. It was quiet and peaceful there actually. With no annoying kids running around like there was at the camp.

Slowly his brown eyes came back up to Ebony and he cocked his head slightly. A lazy smile crossed his lips, "aren't you a little old to be playing around on monkey bars?" Eric asked him quietly.

The humming stopped abruptly as a voice of another human broke through the sugar coated colored world of Ebony. Tilting his head back until the crown of the blue-black mass touched the cool metal of the monkey bars, Eb flushed slightly and swallowed the rest of his Skittles. They stuck slightly in his throat with all their little jagged pieces staying behind to scratch up the smooth muscle. Choking slightly and coughing silently, Ebony's eyes widened as he sat upright quickly, almost falling off the monkey bars, to turn and look at the person who nearly caused the death of Ebony. "Er, yeah, fun. Lots of it," Ebony said in the lilting British accent as he scratched the back of his head and decided to stare at the criss crossing pattern of metal bars. Well, he was having fun until the random counselor dude decided to barge in on it. What was his name--Eric! Right, Eric, counselor, Ebony had never really spoke to him. Not that Ebony often initiated conversation.

Acutely aware that his mouth felt sticky and his lips would probably meld together if he pressed them together. So Ebony parted them slightly, lip ring flashing in the sunlight that wasn't being hidden behind any of the puffy clouds, and reverted to the shy and awkward self. Playing with the hem of his shirt and taking a deep breath, Eb was utterly silent for quite awhile. The only movement that came from the pallid male was that of his long, graceful fingers as they toyed with the hem of his button town shirt. It quickly became wrinkly beneath his touch, and then he would smooth it, and then it would become wrinkly, and then he would smooth it. There were stains on his fingers from the dye of the candy he had been slowly popping in his mouth all morning since he had rolled out of bed.

Looking at his lap and then peering up through the fringe of his bangs, Eb smiled shyly and shrugged a fragile shoulder. "One is never too old to play on monkey bars. Besides, I'm the size of an anorexic four-year-old orphan in Uganda." Ebony was refering to his weight, or lack thereof, as he made a vague gesture to his thin waist and tiny stomach that was concealed beneath the thin fabric of his shirt. "'Tis fun, would you like to join?" came a smooth question in the muted tones of Ebony as his sea green eyes peered from beneath blue-black hair shining in the sunlight. Eb didn't take up much room, there was certainly enough room for Eric, and if Eric was lucky then he might even get some Skittles.

Ah, if life could be monkey bars and Skittles and random conversations with people one barely knew but had no intention of them murdering you. This was a moment that barely happened in the world nowadays, especially for the adult Ebony who was forced to grow up earlier than he would have liked.

Blinking twice in succession, biting on his lip until he felt the skin crack slightly and ooze a droplet of blood, Eb glanced up quickly and shrugged. "Or I can come down there..." he trailed off and looked back down, stuck in his own quiet nature and shyness around people he did not know well.
